Luca LeBleu’s debut single, the old skool electro sound of ‘Save The Planet’, drops on Jack Said What at an appropriate time — just as much of the world is experiencing a heatwave due to the climate crisis. “It’s so hot, hot, I’m burning up,” raps electro legend MC G.L.O.B.E. from ‘80s hip-hop pioneers the Soulsonic Force on the track.

Luca found himself on a video call with G.L.O.B.E. on New Year’s Eve 2020, and they found that they had a whole lot in common. “We would then have numerous calls and just chat life, and it turned out we both felt strongly about climate change issues,” Luca says. “I also loved how ‘80s songs were mostly positive or had informative messages.”

G.L.O.B.E. had been thinking of the words to ‘Save The Planet’ for some years and felt like this was the perfect time to lay it down and get it out — with Luca on production duties. For Luca, it is like a dream come true. “I was introduced to electro before I can remember by my mum,” he says. “I grew up listening to all of G.L.O.B.E.’s records religiously, along with other artists like Man Parrish, and watching the breakdance movies over and over, specifically Turbo’s broom scene in Breakin’! It’s crazy to think I’m now personal friends with all of the above inspirations!”

‘Save The Planet’ comes with a blistering remix by Jack Said What mix maestro Steve Mac. Look out for another Luca collab in the coming weeks with another musical legend.
